Case Profile: 

Native American Sacred Sites on Public Lands 
Challenge
Obtain broad Tribal Government review and advice on USDA-FS Policies and Procedures for Sacred Sites Preservation and Access through listening sessions and consultations. Draft consensus and individual feedback to U.S. Secretary of Agriculture.

Parties
Tribal Governments in Oregon and Washington; USDA Forest Supervisors and Cultural Staff.

Outcome
Identified and worked with 5 Tribal Government hosts of regional gatherings involving 56 tribal participants representing 33 governments. Facilitated inter-tribal policy discussions and development of focused advice. Produced participant-approved meeting summaries and regional input to USDA Secretary.
